PATRICIA CORREA (1960)

Multimedia and multidisciplinary artist, based in Bogotá. BFA and MFA (2009), Corciran College of Arts + Design, Washington DC. Honor Graduate. After working as an economist for more than 20 years, in 2003 a new life journey commenced exploring different art mediums such as pianring, drawing, printmaking and photography. Nature, portraiture and historic memory are key themes of her work. She usually starts her projects by extensive research on scientific, social or history issues to tell stories or express ideas through visual arts media. She has made three solo exhibitions in Colombia and participated in more than twelve collective and collaboratory shows in Colombia and the USA. Her last show, entitled "Change is the only constant",  focuses on urban history, telling stories about a recently demolished monument in Bogotá (Monumento a los Héroes) and tits neighborhood through large scale murals made of tiles with photographic images in blue and white, printed using three techniques: cyanotypes, screen-printing and gel transfers.
